Get an IDNYC
The Point System
To apply, you must prove your identity and residency using a point system. You need a total of 4 points:
3 Points for Identity: Such as a Passport, U.S. or foreign birth certificate, or a NYS Driver’s License.
1 Point for Residency: Such as a utility bill, lease, or bank statement dated within 60 days. Note: At least one document must have your photo and one must have your date of birth.
The Process
First, check your documents using the IDNYC Document Calculator online to ensure you have enough points. Next, make an appointment through the IDNYC Online Portal to book a slot at an enrollment center. While some locations allow walk-ins, appointments are highly recommended. Finally, attend your appointment with your original documents. They will take your photo and mail your card to you within 10 to 14 business days.
How to Use Culture Pass
Requirements
You must have a physical, full-service library card from BPL, NYPL, or QPL, and you must be 13 or older to reserve a pass.
How to Book
To book a pass, log in at CulturePass.nyc and select your library system using your library card barcode and PIN. You can then browse and reserve by date or venue. Note that new passes are released at midnight on the first of every month for the following month and they often go fast. Once you have a reservation, you must print or download your pass before your visit. Be aware that once you click "Print" or "Download," you cannot cancel the reservation. On the day of your visit, present your pass along with a valid ID at the venue.
IDNYC serves as an official photo ID and offers year-long memberships to specific institutions. Culture Pass is specifically for free museum entry and generally allows one pass per venue per year. Both are free of charge.
Remember that IDNYC and Culture Pass are separate programs, but you can use your IDNYC to get a library card, which then gives you access to Culture Pass.
